CHART is designed for students who have graduated or plan to graduate soon with baccalaureate degrees in health-related sciences (such as biology) from other institutions across North Carolina. A special emphasis is on serving graduates of historically Black colleges and universities.

CHART curricula include classes at UNC-Chapel Hill combined with clinical training and placement in rural and medically underserved areas in North Carolina. Program length varies from 12 to 24 months.

CHART is funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration and sponsored by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Department of Allied Health Sciences.
