THE CHART PROJECT WILL
  1. Increase access of graduates of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and colleges in medically underserved areas (MUA) to diagnostic allied health science careers (clinical laboratory science, radiologic technology, and cytotechnology) through a comprehensive recruitment and informational program.

  2. Provide rapid transition programs that enable students with baccalaureate degrees in health-related sciences to complete programs leading to certification in clinical laboratory science, cytotechnology or radiologic science.

  3. Increase the number of clinical laboratory scientists, cytotechnologists and radiologic technologists competent to practice in medically underserved areas of NC.

  4. Establish clinical training sites for diagnostic allied health science students in MUA and rural areas in NC.

  5. Provide a course for all students that emphasizes practice needs in MUA and in medically underserved populations.

  6. Facilitate the placement of graduates of the CHART programs in MUA of NC.

  7. Provide a web site for CHART students that will serve as a resource center, linking the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Allied Health Sciences with clinical sites and clinical practitioners in NC.
